DEVOTIONAL SUBJECT: Crucified Christ
ORIGIN:  Mexico
MATERIAL: Oil on tin.
APPROXIMATE SIZE: 8 X 81 1/2 inches
AGE: Dated 1916
CONDITION: Poor
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: This ex-voto has seen its better days.  the writing is in fair condition, but the art illustration is poor.  There are six kneeling figures praying to Christ in the background.  It appears that a man by the name of Felipe was lost.  His wife pleaded relief throught the local imageof Christ.  This retablo(ex-voto) was offered in thanksgiving for the mans recovery.
E542    $150
DEVOTIONAL SUBJECT: Maria, True Mother
ORIGIN:  Mexico
MATERIAL: Oil on tin.
APPROXIMATE SIZE: 7 X 102 inches
AGE: Undated, probably early 1900's.
CONDITION: Poor.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: This ex-voto does not explain what the prayer request is about.  It only shows a woman praying to The Madonna Mary.  Of special interest is that the painter was probably the same person making the prayer request as the writing is not consistant with what a village painter of ex-votos would produce.  The painter was possibly dyslectic because some of the writing is backward and distorted.  The actual translation of the ex-voto is difficult to understand, but is actuallity it translates as "Maria, True Mother, Most Holy Blood"        (no number)    $100
