Mexican, 18th century or even could be 17th century.
26 inches tall. 20.5 inches without the base.
Carved and painted wood over gesso.
Condition is very good.
This figure is made in the very old style of covering the carved wood with linen prior to putting on the gesso. There is a place or two on the rear of the body where the old linen shows. I doubt if the blue ball representing the world is original, but the ball is the proper attribute for this figure. The base may or may not be original, but it is very old and seems to fit this piece. An excellent old figure.
