This Virgin is standing on a very unusual base of clouds, with the earth and moon, as well as a snake at her feet.
This Madonna came from a Marquis (French Count) who lives in southern Spain. He has a hobby of collecting and selling antiques. He said that he received this piece from the Figueroa family from Seville, Spain who are Counts in Spanish Royal Family. The Virgin comes from a little pueblo outside Seville called Torre de la Reina. During religious celebrations, she would be put on a different base and then used in the religious procession throughout the pueblo.
S967 $4,575 without the resplandor.
The sterling silver resplandor is $675.
The long base shown at the bottom is not original to this Virgin and is not available. We put it under her when taking the photo, but have since used it for another santo. If additional height is required, we have another 3-drawer base that looks very good with this Virgin. This
3-drawer base would add seven more inches to her height. Also , we have an old scroll type base that is perfect for her in adding three inches to her height.
